How the Checker Works

Start with two garments, then use “+ Add garment” to check up to 20 items. Select the actual fabric and care instructions on each label; the suggested fabric is only a starting point.

What the checker compares

Each garment is compared with every other garment for color-group differences, new or untested dye, towel lint, heavy-fabric abrasion, gentle-care requirements and different soil levels. Items with uncertain or non-machine care are held aside.

Understanding your result

Green means no sorting conflict was found from the options you entered. Yellow recommends extra separation. Red indicates a stronger conflict or an item that needs separate care or label verification. These are rule-based categories, not measured probabilities of damage.

Suggested wash groups

Every pair within a suggested group passes the sorting checks. New or untested colored garments remain separate, even when the other garments are dark. Sorting is conservative and does not guarantee the fewest possible loads.

Settings and limits

Cold water and the suggested cycle are starting points only when every label allows them. A cold wash does not prevent all dye bleeding or establish hygienic disinfection. Check washer capacity and balance separately; a single isolated garment may need similar compatible items to make a suitable load.

This tool does not assess hazardous contamination, special finishes, every fiber blend, all embellishments, or machine-specific instructions. Always follow the care label.
